2005 - 1/540 scale model built by Bill Willis. This model was Revell's straight deck version of the FDR released in 1961 as part of the Picture Fleet. I bought the model on EBay and modified it by adding the angle deck, sponsons, scratchbuilt radars and mast, hangar deck, and other modifications. Since I had no blueprints, I relied on photo images from the Coral Sea website. She was a great ship and I hope I did her justice. Although I didn't serve in the Navy ( I was USAF ) my first love has always been naval avaition.
