Taken while refueling from her on the way to Turkey for ASW exercises off the coast of Turkey. In one photo,the band entertained while alongside. Nice shot of a Savage on deck. Great look at the starboard side of the ship, especially the 5" guns. High-line transfers and at anchor in Thessaloniki, Greece.

1956 - USS Coral Sea CVA-43 - In port at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. The new "super carrier" the USS Forrestal CV-59 is tied up on the next pier over. Note the size difference between the Midway Class and Forrestal Class.
1957 - USS Coral Sea CVA-43 - April 15, On her way up the west coast to Puget Sound Navy Yard. Note how the flight deck paint has been rubbed off by the arrestor wires and the aircraft tailhooks.

1958 - USS Coral Sea CVA-43 - February, Look closely and you can see four main areas of work, The new hurricane bow being added, Both old centerline elevators being removed, The entire port side with guns, port elevator and bulkheads removed where the new angle deck and port quarter elevator will be added, The island where all the electronics have been removed and the island is being expanded.
