Coral Sea Video Clip 1963 - This one is of an F-8 Photo Crusader, VFP-63 PP-928, that loses control systems going down the catapult. Watch closely at the end, you can see the pilot eject just as the plane rolls inverted. Another Coral Sea PLAT video from Gary Schreffler.

Read accounts of this mishap here.

Coral Sea Video Clip Mishap on CAT-3, an F-4B of VF-151 is pulled down the deck by its mangled nose gear after a miscue. Look closly at the nose gear and you can see it collapse and then get tangled in the bridal/shuttle pulling the Phantom into the sea. Another Coral Sea PLAT video from Gary Schreffler.

Read accounts of this mishap here.

Coral Sea Video Clip 1986 - Local news station report on USS Coral Sea homecoming. Many thanks to David Timmons.

1986 - Two fantastic movies filmed and edited by David Huber, one of our shipmates.

Video 1- Coverage of attack on Libya which was in retalliation for the Labelle Disco bombing in Germany in 1986. Included is news coverage with the late Peter Jennings, footage of the USS Coral Sea bomb assembly team and other ordies stenciling and transporting the bombs, News coverage from Navy News, and a speech to the nation by Ronald Reagan. A syslfrog production.

Video 2 - Music video of bomb assembly crew on board the USS Coral Sea CV43 in 1985. A syslfrog production.

2008 - USS Coral Sea Slide Show set to music by Pascal "Frenchy"

New 1988-89 - Footage from the flight deck of United States Navy aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea (CV-43). Also some footage from the V-1 Division (flight deck crew) berthing area. This footage was filmed by Paul Carrizales during a work-up cruise off the east coast of the US sometime around late 1988 or early 1989.

Worth noting that the jets in these videos are the F-14 Tomcats (VF-101 Grim Reapers). F-14's never deployed aboard the Midway Class carriers due to the smaller flight and Hanger decks. Also, I believe the JBD's were not large enough or strong enough for an F-14 to launch in afterburner which is required for a max weight launch.
