1950 - Coral Sea Supply Department lighter with Supply Corps gold indicia and enameled logo on the front and Coral Sea profile on back. Date of issue is unknown, but is a Penguin full size lighter and appears to be of late 40's, early 50's. Maybe one of the old hands can let us know the date of issue.

1983 - Odd lighter found in the bilge around 1983. As far as the markings go; It's from Marine attack squadron VMA-311, the "Tomcats", that flew A-4's in 1965 from Chu Lai Air Base, Vietnam. They were the first squadron to ever use arresting gear on land for short field landings. Maybe one of their birds came out to the Coral Sea for refueling or ordinance and someone traded for that lighter???
