Nov 5, 1952 - FJ-2 North American Fury of NATC is on the deck of the USS Coral Sea (CVA-43). Its nose wheel past the edge of the deck, a North American Aviation FJ-2 Fury is about to become airborne as it is catapulted from the deck of the USS Coral Sea (CVA-43). The swept wing Navy fighter is in the 650 miles an hour class and carries four 20 mm cannon as armament. The Fury was produced at the company's Columbus, OH division. The pilot was LT H. G. Sickle who made 15 landings from 4-6 Nov 1952.

The new landing gear and arresting hook bumper were too weak for carrier landings under realistic conditions, and the aircraft handled poorly during carrier approaches and landings.
